Our McDonald’s Relationship

Ronald McDonald Houses have been McDonald’s “charity of choice” since the first House was founded in Philadelphia in 1974.

Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, Inc. (RMHI) is a private non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation registered in the state of Indiana and governed by a local board of directors.  McDonald’s is one of our significant corporate donors.  Portions of our annual operating costs are contributed through our relationship with Central Indiana McDonald’s owner/operators and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHC).

This includes funds contributed by McDonald’s customers, through Ronald McDonald House Charities donation boxes hosted in Central Indiana restaurants, of which 25% goes directly to support the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana.  Additionally, funding is provided by RMHC of Central Indiana through grants to support the House’s annual ongoing programming.  McDonald’s owner/operators also have a history of making substantial contributions to RMHI building and expansion projects.

McDonald’s involvement extends even beyond the above to include:

  • McDonald’s employees support the RMHI as volunteers and meal program participants.
  • McDonald’s owner/operators and corporate employees are represented on the RMHI Board of Directors and various committees.
  • McDonald’s owner/operators and the regional corporate office often sponsor and/or attend RMHI fundraising events and activities.
  • The McDonald’s network of suppliers often provides both monetary support and in-kind donations of services and supplies.

Although McDonald’s is a loyal and generous corporate donor, no one company can solely fund the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana.  The remainder of our annual operating income is secured through the generosity of individuals, foundations, civic & service organizations, churches, schools and many other corporate donors.  We depend on the entire Central Indiana community and greatly value the wide range of support for our very important mission.
