To many, a pop tab is just a piece of aluminum with one purpose - to open a can. But to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, the pop tab is a valuable resource. Why? Collected pop tabs are recycled; generating much-needed funds to support the House and the nearly 1,500 families we serve each year.
Thanks to the dedication of thousands of school children, families, businesses, churches and service organizations, over $217,000 has been raised through this program! Money generated though recycling pop tabs helps play an important role in keeping our doors open.
Who can participate?
People of all ages can participate in supporting the Ronald McDonald House by collecting pop tabs. Many schools support this project because it is easy and helps teach valuable math and recycling lessons. Families, churches, service organizations and businesses also participate as a way to show their support of the Ronald McDonald House and the families we serve.
How do you get started?
It's easy. There is no registration required. Simply remove the pop tab from the aluminum can and put them in your favorite collection container. The Ronald McDonald House has small cardboard collection containers available as well. Schools interested in becoming members of the "Collect-A-Million" club can contact the House to receive an information and activity packet that includes tips on making the program a success.
Where do I drop off my collected pop tabs?
If you live in the Indianapolis area, you are welcome to drop off your tabs at the Ronald McDonald House seven days a week between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. For larger deliveries, we can make arrangements for you to take them directly to one of our participating Recycling Centers. Participating McDonald's restaurants throughout Indiana will also accept your pop tabs. For those who live outside of Indiana or in an area not served by a participating McDonald's restaurant, consider recycling the tabs at your local recycling center and sending the proceeds directly to the House. To find out if your local McDonald's restaurant participates in this program, please contact the Ronald McDonald House.
